NorthConnex is a $3 billion market-led proposal by Transurban to connect Sydney’s M1 motorway to the M2, including nine kilometres of tunnel. Design & Construct contractor Lendlease Bouygues Joint Venture were required to achieve an ‘Excellent’ Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating.

The Lendlease Bouygues Joint Venture engaged Losee Consulting to conduct desktop and on-site audits, independently ascertain the project’s sustainability status, and satisfy the Man-5 credit’s auditing requirement. Scott Losee completed a ‘shadow verification’, challenging the team and discipline leads to produce the detailed evidence that IS verifiers would require.

He concluded the on-site audit with a presentation to the Project Director, managers, and head office and client representatives. This helped the team demonstrate the need for cross-project contribution to preparing the IS submission.

The audit gave the team the confidence to make their target score 21 points higher and bring forward time-sensitive steps.
