Logan Green Building Guide
Working with Logan City Council to ensure sustainable processes across community buildingsProject
Logan City Council aims to improve how the community experiences and interacts with Council facilities. It is also aiming to have carbon neutral operations by 2022. Given the high proportion of emissions attributable to buildings, and the potential reductions, green buildings initiatives can make a substantial contribution.
To this end, Council engaged Losee Consulting to develop a Green Building Guide. We began by consulting key internal stakeholders and conducting extensive research.
Solution
The guide outlined required pathways for new building works and existing buildings, including Green Star or NABERS requirements.
The guide covered: energy, materials, water, waste, transport, landscape and ecology, people, resilience and adaptability, construction and operations. For each area, it provided an intent, identified benefits, recommended solutions and cited sources of further guidance.
Alongside the guide, we provided a ‘recommendations report’ to outline how Council could implement the guide most effectively.
The guide now provides a platform to drive sustainability consistently across Council buildings.
