Lake Macdonald Dam upgrade—Infrastructure Sustainability Services
Assisting Seqwater in achieving sustainability for constructionProject
Six Mile Creek Dam, commonly referred to as Lake Macdonald, is located on the Sunshine Coast in Noosa Shire. It is one of two principal raw water sources that supplies potable drinking water to Noosa Shire residents.
The upgrade of Lake Macdonald Dam is part of Seqwater’s Dam Improvement Program. Seqwater sought advice from Losee Consulting on how to achieve sustainability outcomes for the Lake Macdonald Dam Upgrade.
Solution
We prepared a strategy to utilise the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme in a non-certified arrangement, where design phase requirements were removed. The result was that Seqwater required its contractors to apply the IS rating scheme in a non-certified manner to achieve an ‘Excellent’ outcome. The approach maintains the familiar structure of the IS rating scheme so that contractors can apply the scheme with confidence.
