Gateway Upgrade North—Sustainability Advice
Losee Consulting provided client-side, strategic advice to Transurban on sustainability, reaching 65 points with the IS rating schemeProject
The Queensland Government partnered with Transurban to deliver the $1.2 billion Gateway Upgrade North project. The Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) rating scheme was adopted to manage social-environmental risk and promote sustainability.
Transurban engaged Scott Losee as a sustainability specialist for tender evaluation. The resulting tender incorporated detailed sustainability requirements and achieved a 65-point ‘Excellent’ IS rating. Scott continued as client-side advisor to monitor and coach the contractor, Lendlease, and the SMEC Jacobs design Joint Venture.
As an experienced verifier, Scott provided expert review of the Sustainability Management Plan and direction across many challenging IS credits, including base case determination, management systems, and community health and wellbeing indicators.
From this expertise, Transurban and The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) reinforced its expectation of high sustainability achievement and set the contractor up for success. The project is in a strong position to meet its 65-point target.
