Burdekin Falls Dam—Detailed Business Case
Workshop facilitation and development of the sustainability chapter for the DBCProject
Although Burdekin Falls Dam continues to perform as it should, assessments have highlighted actions Sunwater needs to take to bring the dam in line with modern engineering design standards and ensure the asset remains safe and productive for years to come.
The Burdekin Falls Dam Improvement Project will ensure the dam’s long-term viability, including increasing its resilience to extreme weather events.
Following Queensland Government approval, Sunwater worked with Building Queensland to prepare the Detailed Business Case (DBC) for the redevelopment of the Burdekin Falls Dam.
Solution
Losee Consulting, in conjunction with Sunwater, assisted with the sustainability chapter of the DBC, including the following work:
- Reviewing the sustainability issues identified during the preliminary business case
- Creating a spreadsheet-based assessment tool, integrating 17 sustainability principles addressed in the Business Case Development Framework (BCDF)
- Facilitating stakeholder and community consultation workshops to identify community priorities
- Conducting a sustainability assessment.
The government is considering the results of the DBC.
