Beaudesert Southwest Pipeline—Infrastructure Sustainability Services
Assisting Seqwater in the implementation of sustainability for a non-certified IS approachProject
As part of the Beaudesert Water Supply Upgrade project, Seqwater is installing the 27 km–long Southwest Pipeline (SWP) to connect two new reservoirs to the Beaudesert Water Treatment Plant and the SEQ Water Grid.
Seqwater elected to apply a non-certified Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) approach for design and construction to the South West Pipeline project. Seqwater engaged Losee Consulting to provide advice and support during project establishment, and then third party auditing during delivery.
Solution
In the early stages, we completed a weightings assessment and provided advice on mandatory criteria for design and construction.
The assurance auditing approach that Seqwater adopted for SWP follows the approach we developed for Lake Macdonald Dam. We have completed the initial implementation audit, and will then conduct an interim progress audit, initial assurance audit and a final assurance audit.
This non-certified IS approach complemented by auditing is helping Seqwater raise expectations of sustainability performance and ensure they are met.
