As Project Director, Scott worked with Queensland Urban Utilities (QUU) to develop a draft Climate Change Strategy that articulated a policy position and provided guidance on actions to achieve the organisation’s resilience goals.
QUU is the fourth largest water utility in Australia. It is highly influenced by climate and is a high greenhouse emitter due to the energy needed to treat, pump and reclaim water. These factors were key drivers in the organisation commencing preparation of a Climate Change Strategy.
A strong collaborative approach was central to the project’s success. Scott began by facilitating a roundtable with senior internal stakeholders to establish the purpose and objectives. Research supported the development of actions, the suitability and comprehensiveness of which were tested at a staff workshop. A draft Climate Change Strategy was then developed drawing together the outcomes of each project stage. Scott delivered this project while working at AECOM.
