As Project Director, Scott worked with Gold Coast City Council to develop the Gold Coast Climate Change Strategy. This comprehensive strategy detailed a vision for how the city was going to respond to the challenges climate change presented, and identified strategic outcomes to be achieved through implementation.
Key components of the project included a literature review of global best practice and an assessment of Council’s current and past activities against best practice principles. Council staff were engaged through a series of interviews to collect detailed insights on the practical implications of proposed actions and to build support. This project included two workshops focusing on climate risk and adaptation options respectively.
A discussion paper identifying mitigation and adaptation options was delivered for Council’s consideration. The final product was a draft for inclusion as a section in the Council’s overall Climate Change Strategy. Scott delivered this project while working at Maunsell AECOM.
