The TrackStar Alliance was created in 2006 and delivered a series of projects for Queensland Rail, initially including the Corinda to Darra, Caboolture to Beerburrum and Robina to Varsity Lakes projects. Since the infrastructure was primarily for passenger transport, the Alliance Leadership Team considered it important to deliver the project in a sustainable manner, consistent with its intended use.
Scott established the initial sustainability plan. Following the change management concept of ‘early quick wins’, he designed a raft of sustainability measures for the construction site offices at Beerburrum and Robina, including high ceilings with fans, cross-flow ventilation, efficient lighting and air-conditioning, water-efficient fittings and rainwater tanks.
The site offices set the tone for sustainability on the project and several other major sustainability advances were achieved, reducing energy and materials and saving capital and operating expenses. Scott delivered this project while working for one of the alliance partners, AECOM.
